Topleigh Stables: Remodel & extend existing bungalow

A “glowing reference” was just the reassurance that Mel and Joanna Morris were looking for as they decided to give the go-ahead to The Martin Sewell Building Company. Proposed works would include extensive remodelling and (vertical) extension of the existing L-shaped bungalow to create a second floor.

Before work commenced Joanna and Mel worked closely with MSBC to evolve the original design to include a structural oak frame and an environmentally friendly ground source heat pump. For these elements (as well as many other details) MSBC were able to offer knowledgeable input from past experience working with green oak subcontractors and specialist sustainable energy companies.

Now completed, the building’s transformation is stunning. The first impression is the unashamedly bright and vivacious tiles; the bright roof is set off with beautiful oak fascias and aluminium guttering and inside, bespoke joinery items include oak doors, a lit oak staircase and a truly gorgeous solid hardwood kitchen.
