Downs View: Refurbishment

The refurbishment of this substantial country house required a complete strip-out. Granary, guest annex, garage complex plus substantial external work and landscaping had to be accomplished.

Ron, our senior Contracts Manager of 20 years’ service, and Chris, our Site Supervisor of 15 years’ dealt with many challenges including an ever evolving specification, unforeseen structural issues involving extensive under pinning and the need for a steel frame to preserve the existing structure.

We sourced local stone from the Fittleworth Quarry to blend seamlessly with both the new and old buildings. This same stone was used to construct an impressive entrance and boundary walling to reflect the local estate.

High specification timber windows designed to comply with strict listed building requirements and give the comfort and insulation expected today.
Our electrical and mechanical contractors dealt with very high specifications and some unusual requirements too. Also, many areas had to have specialist joinery such as the library and dressing rooms.

A fantastic project that benefited from great teamwork involving the best in their trade, all delivered on time and to budget.
