Peter Symonds College
Peter Symonds College: extension to provide a new learning support and therapy suite.
The Martin Sewell Building Company was asked to work with Chawton Hill surveyors to replace an old conservatory building at Peter Symonds Sixth Form College in Winchester. The original building had become unusable for extended periods in hot and cold weather, partly due to inefficient roof and wall materials.
MSBC transformed the space to create a learning support and therapy suite for students. The new building was constructed to achieve high standards of insulation and light with a new layout to increase accessibility.
When completing the project, health and safety was high on the college's agenda, especially as the work was completed during the summer term. Despite a tight timescale, the project was finished a week early.
Martin says "it was a privilege to support the college in renewing such an important learning space. Optimising learning for all students is something we take seriously, and we hope they will be able to enjoy this building for years to come."
